Give them food for Valentine's

The Rev. Steve Anthony, executive director of Toledo Area Ministries, and Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop asked for an unusual Valentine's Day gift yesterday.

Instead of flowers or candy, they asked residents to donate to local food banks, which are in need of contributions.

A simple donation of food would be a true Valentine to needy families in northwest Ohio, they said.

Toledo Area Ministries operates 13 Feed Your Neighbor sites across Lucas County.

Last year, Feed Your Neighbor gave away enough ingredients to provide 513,000 meals.
