Veteran to discuss efforts behind WWII Memorial

BOWLING GREEN The only World War II veteran who worked on the national World War II Memorial will be a speaker tomorrow night at the 12th annual dinner of the Bowling Green State University Student Construction Management Association.

Chet Wachowicz, 81, worked for 62 years at Gilbane Building Co., Providence, R.I., and came out of retirement to help build the memorial in Washington, which opened in 2004.

Also speaking will be Thomas Laird, Jr., senior vice president and regional manager for Gilbane.

The dinner, which takes place in Olscamp Hall, is one of the university s largest student organized events.

Attending will be BGSU construction management majors, their families, and faculty members, plus area contractors.
