A man was hurt early Tuesday when he was struck at CSX s Stanley Yard in Lake Township by an unattached train car that was moving down the tracks, authorities said.

The man, a CSX worker who was trapped under the train car for about 30 minutes, was airlifted with "very serious" injuries to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Lake Township Fire Chief Eric Larson said.

The accident occurred about 3:20 a.m. a quarter-mile south of Walbridge Road. The train car was moving down the tracks apparently by itself when the accident occurred, Chief Larson said. The name of the victim was not released.

It took Lake Township fire crews about 20 minutes to free the man, the fire chief said.
