Injury crash closes southbound I-75 near Monroe

MONROE A tractor-trailer rig and a passenger vehicle collided early Thursday on I-75 just south of Laplaisance Road, injuring one person and closing the southbound lanes of the freeway to traffic south of this Monroe County community, authorities said.

The victim, whose name and condition were not released, was taken to an area hospital, according to the Monroe County Sheriff s Office.

The crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. in Monroe Township. The southbound lanes of the freeway were reopened about 9 a.m., sheriff s deputies said.
