Springfield Township couple offers $250,000 for their missing son's return

The Springfield Township couple whose son has been missing for a month appeared on CNN Thursday morning, pledging a $250,000 reward for the safe return of the 26-year-old. Pam Wiles said $50,000 of the reward money is for information about the whereabouts of Robert Wiles, while $200,000 is for "information leading to the arrest and conviction" of the kidnappers. Mr. and Mrs. Wiles had initially offered a $10,000 reward last week.


Theresa Gabriel, Toledo s director of human resources, was appointed Thursday as a top ranking official in Mayor Carty Finkbeiner s administration. The mayor announced Ms. Gabriel s appointment as assistant chief of staff to replace David Moebius, who retired effective Thursday. Ms. Gabriel, the former Republican Toledo Municipal Clerk of Courts, has been with Mr. Finkbeiner s administration in different positions for years.

As two intruders began ransacking her house, a teenager home alone climbed into bed, hid under the covers and text messaged her mother, who called 911. The thieves, who were both arrested, even sat on the girl's bed at one point, unaware she was home. Lauren Durnbaugh, 13, was home sick from school Tuesday when she heard someone open a rear door her mother forgot to lock. She hid as the suspects went from room to room.
