Myanmar cyclone death toll soars past 22,000

YANGON, Myanmar The cyclone death toll soared above 22,000 on Tuesday and more than 41,000 others were missing as the international community prepared to rush in aid after the country s deadliest storm on record, state radio reported. Up to 1 million people may be homeless after Cyclone Nargis hit the Southeast Asian nation, also known as Burma, early Saturday. Some villages have been almost totally eradicated and vast rice-growing areas are wiped out, the World Food Program said.



CLYDE, Ohio A Green Creek Township man died late Monday at the University of Toledo Medical Center after he was struck by a van while riding a bicycle in Sandusky County earlier in the day, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Ernest Pruitt, 75, was flown to University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, following the 5:40 p.m. accident on County Road 185.

A fire of a yet unknown origin destroyed a vacant mobile home early Tuesday in the Woodside Terrace mobile home park at 7717 Angola Rd. in Springfield Township, authorities said. There were no injuries.
