Sandusky County crash kills Green Creek Township man, 75

CLYDE, Ohio A Green Creek Township man died late Monday at the University of Toledo Medical Center after he was struck by a van while riding a bicycle in Sandusky County earlier in the day, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Ernest Pruitt, 75, was flown to University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, following the 5:40 p.m. accident on County Road 185.

Mr. Pruitt was headed southwest when a van driven by Elmer McClanahan, 74, of Green Springs, Ohio, also headed southwest, began to pass him. Mr. Pruitt unexpectedly veered left and hit the van, and he was thrown from his bicycle, troopers said.
