UPDATED BGSU s Ribeau to take over reins at Howard University

Sidney Ribeau, Bowling Green State University s president for the past 13 years, will become the president of Howard University in Washington. I understand he has accepted the position at Howard University, University spokeman Terri Sharp said. Mr. Ribeau announced the move to the university in an e-mail Wednesday morning.






A tractor trailer rollover accident Wednesday morning on State Rt. 108 in Fulton County has closed portions of the road, authorities said. The accident occurred about 7:25 a.m. on Route 108 between County Roads A and B. The driver, whose name was not released, was transported to the Fulton County Health Center with minor injuries, authorities said.

Traffic was snarled on the Ohio Turnpike near the Stony Ridge entrance Wednesday morning as Ohio Highway Patrol officers responded to a rollover accident in the eastbound lanes.

An accident involving a school bus and six vehicles happened about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday at Garden Road and South Holland-Sylvania Road in Springfield Township, authorities said. It appears the female driver of the bus had a medical condition that caused her to lose control of the bus, which jumped two curbs and collided with some of the vehicles, eyewitnesses said.

YANGON, Myanmar - U.N. officials on Wednesday declared the Myanmar delta worst hit by a devastating cyclone a "major disaster," with corpses floating through flooded waters and enormous logistical challenges hampering humanitarian aid efforts. International aid began trickling into the Southeast Asian country, but much of the Irrawaddy delta, where most of the cyclone's 22,000 victims perished, remains cut off from the world.

FLORIDA, Ohio Two Paulding County men were arrested late Tuesday after they were accused of stealing anhydrous ammonia at the Stanley Elevator near this Henry County community, a common element used to produce methamphetamine, authorities said. John Mobley, 37, and Robert Gibson, 47, were each charged with felony theft of anhydrous ammonia. They were being held at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio near Stryker pending arraignment Wednesday in Napoleon Municipal Court.

SANTIAGO, Chile - The long-dormant Chaiten volcano blasted ash some 20 miles (30 kilometers) into the Andean sky on Tuesday, forcing the last of thousands to evacuate and fouling a huge stretch of the South American continent. A thick column of ash climbed into the stratosphere and blew eastward for hundreds of miles (kilometers) over Patagonia to the Atlantic Ocean, closing schools and a regional airport. Chilean and Argentine citizens were advised to wear masks to avoid breathing the dangerous fallout.
