An unidentified Toledo Zoo keeper was treated at a hospital today for three minor lacerations to his chest after apparently getting too close to one of the zoo s pair of 5-year-old female tigers this morning, a zoo spokesman said. The employee was doing normal rounds, caring for the zoo s two female tigers, Marta and Kat, about 8:30 a.m. in an area he has worked before without incident. A paw thought to be Marta s reached through a double mesh barrier at an odd angle and lacerated his chest, the zoo said.

A Vickery man died Sunday morning when his van rolled over and landed in a creek in Sandusky County s Townsend Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Michael J. Randles, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene along Sandusky County Road 268 near State Rt. 412 after the 7:26 a.m. crash.

A Red Cross boat carrying rice and drinking water for cyclone victims sank Sunday, while the death toll jumped to more than 28,000 and aid groups warned of a humanitarian catastrophe. The double-decker boat that sank was carrying supplies for more than 1,000 people and was the first Red Cross shipment to the disaster area, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said. All four relief workers on board were safe, it said. "This is a great loss for the Myanmar Red Cross and for the people who need aid so urgently," said Aung Kyaw Htut, the distribution team leader of the Myanmar Red Cross.
