LIGHTHOUSE LENS DISPLAYED AT NEW SITE

Bob Gladieux, Frank Bihn, Fred Gerke, and Dan Hall, from left above, examine the 1904 Paris Barbier and Bernard Fresnel lens from the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse after it was reassembled in the lodge at Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon.

The four belong to the lighthouse preservation society, which is leasing the lens from the U.S. Coast Guard for display at the lodge. Lighthouse consultant James Woodward of Cleveland was brought in to help reassemble the lens yesterday, at right. The lens was in the lighthouse until 1995, then was on display at COSI-Toledo until it closed.
