Regular gasoline jumps to just this side of $4.00

5/14/2008

Gasoline prices yesterday continued their seemingly inexorable rise toward $4 a gallon for regular grade in the Toledo area, while higher-grade fuel passed that landmark for the first time.

Many stations hiked their price for regular to $3.959 a gallon, though some came in as high as $3.999 while others set their new price a few pennies cheaper. Premium, at some, was selling for $4.15 a gallon.

The increase marks the latest in a series of price records for Toledo and occurs as gasoline prices continue to rise throughout the United States.

Last week, self-service, unleaded regular reached into the $3.80s for the first time locally.
