    Here is a listing of many of the area s festivals by month:

    • May 18: Oregon Fest, noon to 6 p.m., Dustin Road, Oregon. A celebration of the community, rain or shine, with continuous free stage entertainment. Grand parade at 3 p.m., fest foods, chicken dinners, children s rides, classic cars, arts, and crafts, quality-of-life exhibits, expanded living-history encampment, and more. Free admission.     • May 22-26: 28th Annual Historic Port Clinton Walleye Festival, Water Works Park on Perry Street in Port Clinton. Live entertainment, carnival rides, educational programs, and more than 130 vendors from around the nation. Grand parade Saturday at 1 p.m. and Kids Fishing Derby Sunday at 1 p.m. Hours are 5-11 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.     • May 24-26: Flower Day Weekend, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Toledo Farmer s Market, downtown Toledo. More than 60 vendors will be selling their best plants, yard art, plant accessories, and crafts. On Sunday, the market will be packed with flower growers from all over northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.     • June 3-28: Point Place Days. A 7 p.m. concert on the library lawn kicks off Point Place Days, which take place throughout June and include a scavenger hunt, festival, barbecue, canoe races, baking contest, craft show, car and truck show, and a pet-dressing contest. The 18th annual parade is slated for noon on June 7. The festivities end with fireworks at 10 p.m. June 28.     • June 6-8: Peony Festival, Van Wert, Ohio. The festival includes a 5K run, car show, bands in the park, flower judging, craft festivals, and garden tours. The Peony Parade starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Information: vanwert.com/peony

    • June 7-8: 36th Annual Historic Old West End Festival, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Old West End, Toledo. Juried art show with more than 60 artists, historic home tours, garage and lawn sales, entertainment, food, children s activities, a vintage car show, and a parade featuring art, cars, bands, and marching units.     • June 11-15: 71st Annual Holland Strawberry Festival, Community Homecoming Park, 7807 Angola Rd., in Springfield Township.     • June 14-15: 27th Annual McClure Radish Festival, Big Creek Park at State Routes 6 and 65, McClure. Free radishes, dancing, food, beverages, contests, games, kiddie tractor pull, chicken barbecue, cruise-in, and radish recipe contest.     • July 11-13: 25th River Raisin Festival, along the banks of the River Raisin, Blissfield, Mich. Spanning both Bachmayer and Ellis parks, the festival will include three stages with free entertainment throughout the weekend. Also filling the festival grounds will be the Miss River Raisin Festival Scholarship Pageant, food vendors, a children s area, beverage tent, animal magic, River Raisin Idol contest, crafts, and more.     • JUly 11-13: Lagrange Street Polish Festival, Polish Village, Toledo. Hours are Friday 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 7 p.m. A celebration of the neighborhood s Polish heritage featuring games for children, polka bands, dance contests, a variety of crafts, and food vendors cooking up pierogies, kielbasa, and Polish pastries.     • July 25-27: 40th Annual Hamler Summerfest, Hamler Summerfest Park, State Rt. 109, Hamler. Old-fashioned German festival complete with polka dancing, German food, and more.     • July 26: Great Maumee River Dragon Boat Festival, Maumee River off International Park in downtown Toledo. Teams of 21 to 25 paddlers race 500 meters down the Maumee River, competing for trophies, awards, and prizes. The event also features live entertainment, ancient Chinese musical instrument demonstrations, a children s area, and more.     • Aug. 2: Bull Thistle Festival in Normal Grove Park, Fayette. Festivities kick off with an 11 a.m. parade followed by baseball and basketball games, crafts, a chicken barbecue, a bluegrass band and other entertainment, square dancers, and children s activities.     • Aug. 7-10: 25th Annual Northwest Ohio Rib-Off, Lucas County Fairgrounds, Maumee. Ribs and children s activities plus live music, including classic rock, country, jazz, and blues.     • Sept. 6: Treasure Island Day and Butterfly Festival, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kelleys Island. Search for treasures at an island-wide yard sale, lasting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In conjunction with the Butterfly Festival, which includes a butterfly tagging demonstration, a bake sale, and quilt raffle will take place at the Old Stone Church on Division Street.     • Sept. 6-7: Historical Weekend, Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island. An annual celebration to mark the victory of the American fleet led by Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry over the British fleet on Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
