Genoa Police chief to be Ottawa Co. deputy

5/18/2008

Genoa Police Chief Chad Millner has accepted a job as an Ottawa County sheriff's deputy in the corrections division because he wants more career stability, Sheriff Bob Bratton said yesterday.

Chief Millner will start June 9, and will be paid about $17.50 per hour. Sheriff Bratton said Chief Millner would take a pay cut to go to the county, though he said he did not know Chief Millner's current salary.

Chief Millner is employed at the will of the Genoa Village Council, but he will be a union member in his new job, the sheriff said.

The duties of Chief Millner, who is a certified peace officer, may involve transporting prisoners and special security details, the sheriff said.
