2 hurt in Henry County after motorcycle hits deer

DESHLER, Ohio Two people were hurt, at least one of them seriously late Sunday when both of them were thrown off their motorcycle when it struck a deer north of this Henry County community, authorities said.

Wendy Hoops, 38, of Deshler, the passenger, was flown by a medical helicopter to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, according to the Henry County Sheriff s Office. A hospital spokesman said Monday morning that she had no information about a person by that name.

Timothy Grince, 41, also of Deshler, the motorcycle operator, was taken by a ground ambulance to Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, where his condition was also unavailable.

The crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. on Henry County Road 1, a fifth-of-a-mile north of Henry County Road J in Richfield Township.

The 2008 Honda MC was southbound on Road 1 when it struck a deer that had run onto the road, sheriff s deputies said.

Ms. Hoops and Mr. Grince were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, according to a report issued by the sheriff s office.

Deshler is about 35 miles southwest of Toledo.
