Napoleon man killed in motorcycle crash in Stryker

STRYKER, Ohio A Napoleon, Ohio, man was killed late Sunday when the motorcycle he was operating crashed on West Lynn Street in this Williams County community, authorities said.

John Bowers, 36, who was thrown off the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene, Stryker police said.

The crash occurred about 11:10 p.m. in the 600 block of West Lynn near Garfield Street.

Mr. Bowers was westbound on West Lynn apparently at a high rate of speed when the 2005 Kawasaki ZXI 1100 went off the south side of the road, police said.

The motorcycle then struck the embankment, at which time the driver lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle then struck a tree and a concrete traffic-sign base.

Mr. Bowers was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The accident remained under investigation Monday morning, officers said.
