Whipping winds knock out power in Ohio, Michigan

Repair crews Tuesday morning continued to clear Norfolk Southern Railway railroad tracks of wreckage and debris in Clay Township, near Martin, Ohio, after a Monday night train derailment thought to have been caused by wind, the Ottawa County Sheriff s Office said. Dispatchers at the sheriff s office said no one was hurt when 22 cars of a Norfolk Southern Railway train derailed near Opfer-Lentz Road in Clay Township, near Martin, Ohio. Railcars were scattered along the tracks after the 6:29 p.m. derailment.


The jury in the trial in U.S. District Court of three Toledo men accused of plotting attacks on U.S. soldiers in Iraq listened to closing arguments on Tuesday from attorneys representing two of the defendants. Stephen Hartman, who is representing Marwan El-Hindi, told jurors that his client wasn t involved in a conspiracy to kill or harm troops or in the planning of terrorist-related crimes. "Nothing happened and nothing was about to happen," Mr. Hartman said.
