Newark man arrested in Findlay in beating death of 3-year-old stepson

FINDLAY A Newark, Ohio man was arrested in Findlay Monday evening in connection with the beating death of his 3-year-old stepson in Licking County. Corey S. Flugga, 22, is being held in the Hancock County jail after he reportedly refused to waive extradition to Newark. According to the Hancock County Sheriff s Office, he was brought to the jail by Findlay police at 7:55 p.m. Monday "on a courtesy hold" for Licking County.




A federal judge sided with a group of convenience store owners Tuesday morning and granted a temporary restraining order against Toledo s new law that licenses the establishments. U.S. District Judge James Carr granted the motion after three convenience store owners testified against the new law. A full hearing on the matter will be held at a later date.

A bomb struck a municipal council building Tuesday in Baghdad's Shiite Sadr City district, killing four Americans, including two soldiers and two U.S. government civilian employees, U.S. officials said. At least six Iraqi civilians also died. U.S. troops captured a suspect who tested positive for explosive residue after fleeing the scene, the military said. It blamed Shiite extremists for the attack.

A man was hurt when the car he was driving crashed and overturned early Tuesday on southbound I-75 at I-280 in North Toledo, authorities said. The man, the only occupant of the car, was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo firefighters, who were at the scene, said.

At least one person was seriously hurt in a two-car crash early Tuesday on US 20-A at Fulton County Road 16 near Wauseon, authorities said. The person, whose name and condition were not immediately available, was being airlifted to an area hospital, troopers at the patrol s Toledo post said. The cause of the crash, which occurred about 6:50 a.m., was under investigation, troopers said.
