Fostoria tables vote to hire administrator

FOSTORIA - After a one-hour executive session, Fostoria City Council last night voted unanimously to table an ordinance that would have made North Baltimore Village Administrator Kathy Healy the city's new safety-service director.

Council gave no reason for tabling the hiring, which had been recommended by Mayor John Davoli. Ms. Healy did not attend the meeting.

Last month, the mayor fired Safety-Service Director Bill Rains, saying he wanted to take the city in a new direction.

Though he couldn't comment on council's action, Law Director Tim Hoover said the city charter has no provision for voting on an ordinance to hire a safety-service director. Council President Joe Droll scheduled a meeting of the charter commission for Aug. 5 to discuss amending the charter to address hiring a safety-service director.
