Firefighters in Findlay reject contract offer

7/18/2008

FINDLAY City firefighters have rejected a two-year contract proposal.

Negotiators for the city and the union had been unable to reach a consensus on longevity pay, which is extra compensation paid to firefighters with 10 years or more service.

A fact-finder had issued a recommendation, which city officials said apparently was not acceptable to firefighters.

A conciliator now will be brought in to make a determination on longevity pay.

The firefighters previous contract expired at the end of last year.
