MONROE - Three men perched on an overturned bass fishing boat were rescued yesterday from Lake Erie about eight miles east of Sterling State Park, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The men, whose names were not released, were not hurt, authorities said.

The men were fishing from the 21-foot boat about 9 a.m. when the vessel took on water in the two-to-three-foot waves, Coast Guard Petty Officer Lance Sapp said.

The men were unable to give their exact longitude and latitude on the lake. The Coast Guard found them at 10:15 a.m., about an hour after their first call for help, the petty officer said.
