DEFIANCE, Ohio New traffic patterns will be established today along U.S. 24 on the west side of Defiance as construction of an interchange at State Rt. 424 continues, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced.

Traffic delays may be particularly heavy today while concrete barriers and pavement markings are set up to establish the new pattern, state officials cautioned.

Starting this morning, U.S. 24 traffic will use a short detour involving a newly built stretch of Route 424 and a temporary connecting road east of the Ohio Highway Patrol s Defiance post and an ODOT garage.

The Route 424 intersection with the temporary road will have a traffic light and require a left turn for eastbound traffic.

The routing will remain in place until late next year, when the new U.S. 24 west of Defiance is scheduled to open.
