Two women and a man were hurt Tuesday morning when a car and a sport utility vehicle collided at North Summit and Cherry streets in downtown Toledo, authorities said.

The car driven by a woman was southbound on Summit about 8:15 a.m. when the SUV, which was northbound on Summit with the man driving with a female passenger, started to turn left on to Cherry. The vehicles collided, with the SUV coming to a rest facing west in the westbound lane of Cherry and the car pinned between the SUV and the traffic light pole on the safety island.

The SUV had the right-of-way, said police officers on the scene.

Thirty minutes after the accident, police were sweeping the intersection to remove shattered glass.

All three victims were transported to the nearby St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, officers said. They withheld the names pending completion of the police report.

Traffic in the intersection returned to normal at 9 a.m.
