Seneca County auditor is to retire on Aug. 31

8/5/2008

TIFFIN Seneca County Auditor Larry Beidelschies plans to retire Aug. 31, more than two years before his third full term in office ends.

Mr. Beidelschies was appointed to the post in 1995 and made three successful bids for election. He said he had no real reason for leaving the office early.

I m 63, and it s time for younger people to come in, he said. You pick a time, and it s my time.

The commissioners are expected to appoint an interim auditor. Because there are more than two years remaining in the auditor s term, a special election must be held to fill the vacancy permanently.
