Winning Seneca County lamb brings $25,000

8/13/2008

A Seneca County girl sold her Ohio State Fair grand champion market lamb to the Kroger Co. for $25,000 on Sunday.

Audrey Neal will keep $9,000 of her sale, a sum determined by a cap the fair established in 1995 to limit how much exhibitors can earn from their livestock. Extra money funds programs for all young exhibitors.

Miss Neal had the reserve champion in the Hampshire market lamb competitions in 2006 and 2007 as well as the champion Suffolk market lamb in 2007.
