2 dead in Sandusky County crash

Two men died at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center from injuries sustained when their sport-utility vehicle struck a tree in Sandusky County s Riley Township, authorities said.

The driver, Thomas Held, 82 of Vickery, died Friday afternoon after being flown to St. Vincent.

His passenger, Richard Held, whose age and address were unavailable, died Saturday morning, a hospital spokesman said.

The driver was westbound on State Rt. 6 at County Road 265 about 10:45 a.m. Friday when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road, Ohio Highway Patrol s Sandusky post said. The vehicle struck a guard rail and a tree.
