ARCHBOLD, Ohio A two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer rig early Tuesday closed the westbound Ohio Turnpike northeast of this Fulton County community, authorities said.

No serious injuries were reported, said troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol s Berea post.

The car was driving west "very slowly" in the westbound driving lane of the turnpike between State Rt. 66 and State Rt. 108 about 6:30 a.m. when it was struck from behind by the semi, which was also westbound on the road. After the impact, the semi came to rest in the westbound lanes, said Sgt. Charles Lamberts, of patrol s Swanton post.

The car s driver, a man whose name was not released, initially fled the scene into a field, the patrol said.

The man, who had received minor injuries, later re-emerged from the field, was cited for slow speed and for not wearing a seat belt and taken to the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, Sergeant Lamberts said.

The semi was removed from the road by about 7 a.m., at which time traffic on the turnpike returned to normal, the patrol said.

Archbold is about 40 miles southwest of Toledo.
