Mental exam ordered in Bowling Green threats case

BOWLING GREEN A Fremont man charged with threatening to hurt a judge among others was ordered yesterday to undergo a second psychological evaluation.

Ryan Scheerer, 34, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to three counts of retaliation after being accused of threatening, between June 19 and July 7, to harm Bowling Green Municipal Court Judge Mark Reddin, Assistant City Prosecutor Steve Callejas, and crime victim Jamie Thompson.

Defense attorneys asked Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Alan Mayberry to allow Mr. Scheerer to undergo a second examination, which he ordered to take place at Northcoast Behavioral Health Care, Toledo. Another hearing was set for Nov. 21.
