Bowling Green panel to revisit space need

9/16/2008

BOWLING GREEN Mayor John Quinn told City Council last night he plans to resurrect a committee he appointed in 2004 to study the future of the aging city building and possible new sites for city government.

With the Bowling Green Junior High School on West Wooster Street soon to be replaced by a new school and the former Huntington Bank building on South Main Street now vacant, the mayor said he felt it was a good time to begin discussing the issue again. The committee is to meet Sept. 30.

The mayor s committee previously concluded the city needed more office space; it should keep its offices downtown; and ultimately, staying at its current location on North Church Street and building an addition was the best option.

At that time, voters had not approved a bond issue to build a new junior high.
