Auto accident results in serious injury

Two men were injured, one seriously, about 7:45 p.m. Friday when they were ejected from their car after it hit a curb and light pole and rolled over as they were outbound on the Buckeye Basin Greenbelt Parkway in North Toledo.

The driver, Gerald Ewing, 38, of Whitehouse, was in serious condition Saturday evening in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. His passenger, John J. Garcia, 22, of West Toledo, was in fair condition at St. Vincent.

Toledo police said the car was speeding and went out of control. After hitting the curb and the light pole, the car went off the right side of the road and rolled over several times.

Both men were thrown from the car. Police did not report whether they wore seat belts. No charged were issued Friday, but police are continuing an investigation.
