Mother, two children killed in Hillsdale accident
4/6/2009HILLSDALE A Reading, Mich. woman and her two sons were killed Monday in a two-vehicle accident on snow-covered Bankers Road, about three miles southwest of here, authorities said.
Catherine Marie Harris, 39, was taken to Hillsdale Community Health Center, where she was pronounced dead. The children, whose names and ages were being withheld by the Hillsdale County sheriff s department, died at the scene of the crash on Bankers, near Sand Lake Road in Reading Township.
Capt. Carl Albright said Ms. Harris was east on Bankers about 8:30 a.m. when she lost control of her 2000 Dodge minivan and slid sideways into the path of a westbound car, driven by Bruce Keeling.
Mr. Keeling, 45, of Reading, was taken to Hillsdale Community Health Center. His condition was unavailable.
Captain Albright said Ms. Harris and the children were wearing seat restraints and the appropriate child safety carriers were in use at the time of the crash.
