    Maumee Bay Resort and Conference Center this week revealed more than $1 million in renovations constructed within the last year, including splash features at the Quilter Lodge pool.

    The renovations performed by Xanterra Parks & Resorts, which runs the resort, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources were on display June 29 at an open house.

    "We're featuring six different areas," including the pool's splash features, Patrick Czarny, resort general manager, said.

    Parents have been especially pleased with a soft-play area built in a former racquetball court with a Treasure Island theme, Mr. Czarny said.

    Benches are available for parents watching their children, and the pool also is visible, he said.

    The pool has six splash features, including a waterfall and sprinklers, Mr. Czarny said.

    The play area, splash features, and the 1950s-themed Bayside Snack Shop and ice cream counter were finished last month, Mr. Czarny said.

    As part of the renovations, the original Fresnel Lens from the Toledo Lighthouse is on display in the lodge's lobby. The resort also has a new 1,000-square-foot patio and tent as well as guest room beds and coverings.

    The resort is in the 1,850-acre Maumee Bay State Park and is situated along Lake Erie.

    The resort has 120 rooms in the lodge and 24 cottages.
