A Sylvania man died Wednesday afternoon, more than two hours after he fell in front of his wife's car as she picked him up from the restaurant where they'd dined, authorities said.

Donald Weiher, 82, of 4851 Marble Cliff Blvd., waited on the curb outside Bob Evans, 6215 West Central Ave., about 2:10 p.m. while his wife, Rita, got their car. He fell in front of the car, which struck him, Sylvania Township police said.

He was taken to Toledo Hospital, where he died at 4:20 p.m., said Steve Kahle, a Lucas County coroner's investigator.
