Browns, Lions to meet in a preseason game

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Browns will play three of their four preseason games this summer against NFC North teams.

For the second straight year, the Browns will open the exhibition season at Lambeau Field in Green Bay with a game against the Packers. The game will take place on the weekend of Aug. 12-16. The team has not yet announced specific dates or times for its preseason games.

Cleveland will return the following weekend to host the St. Louis Rams, who have the No. 1 pick in April's draft. The Browns will then travel to Detroit to meet the Lions for the ninth consecutive preseason on the weekend of Aug. 26-29 before wrapping up with a home game against the Chicago Bears on the weekend of Sept. 2-3.

LIONS: Detroit's preseason schedule does not have a single game against an NFC opponent.

The Lions open against the Pittsburgh Steelers the weekend of Aug. 12-16 before heading out west to take on the Denver Broncos the weekend of Aug. 19-23.

Detroit makes its preseason home opener against the Cleveland Browns the weekend of Aug. 26-29 before hosting the Buffalo Bills the weekend of Sept. 2-3.

Specific times and dates have not been released.

PRESEASON: The first game in the new Meadowlands Stadium will be between the owners of the $1.6 billion facility.

The Giants and Jets will play the first game Aug. 16.

Dallas will play Cincinnati in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game to open the NFL's preseason schedule in Canton on Aug. 8.
