A Letter From Lloyd Jacobs ~ University of Toledo

4/19/2010

t The University of Toledo, we recognize that our future is inextricably linked to the future

of the city of Toledo and the region. We strive to make sure that our many offerings, whether

academic, scientific, athletic or cultural, meet the needs of the community we call home.

In short, we strive to be a “Relevant University.”

The Relevant University sees itself from a viewpoint different from that traditionally taken.

The Relevant University measures itself against external criteria such as community health statistics,

educational attainment and median income levels. This has the effect of inspiring collaboration with

other institutions, with government and with business. The concept of the Relevant University is not

new, but it is being brought to new levels at The University of Toledo.

It is with this in mind that we are proud to be a partner in this publication, Campus Connection.

It showcases the positive impact that all our area colleges and universities are having on the

lives of the citizens of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. We hope it inspires you to visit

our campuses.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Lloyd A. Jacobs, M.D.

President

The University of Toledo
