AKRON — Springfield could not figure out Massillon Perry pitcher Casi Rohr who knocked the Blue Devils out of the state softball tournament Thursday.

Springfield (22-7) managed to get just three hits and fell 5-0 to the Panthers in a Division I state semifinal at Firestone Stadium.

Massillon Perry (25-3) scored single runs in the second and third innings then broke it open with three more in the fourth.

Rohr, a junior who has lost just twice this season (21-2), struck out eight.

Time after time in the postseason, Springfield senior pitcher Ashlyn Michalak had been able to work out of trouble. But the Panthers got to Michalak with seven hits.

Jess Zappone, Emily Rockman, and Fayth Atkins had the hits for the Blue Devils.
