City League: Central Catholic blanks Bowling Green

Calebb Goings scored three rushing touchdowns, and Central Catholic's defense held visiting Bowling Green to just 84 yards Friday night to open the season with a 30-0 victory.

Goings rushed for 144 yards on 22 carries with touchdown runs of 15, 11 and 49 yards. Amir Edwards scored the Irish's other touchdown on an eight-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Irish scored a safety in the second quarter when the BG punter ran out of the end zone following a bad snap. Central forced three turnovers - interceptions by Hayden Reamer and Patrick Wesolowski, and a fumble recovery by Chris Hoover.

Whitmer 35, Tiffin Columbian 6

Jody Webb and Tre Sterritt each scored two touchdowns for Whitmer.

Webb scored on a 55-yard run and 38-yard pass from Alex Palicki. Sterritt scored on runs of 5 and 8 yards.

Lucas Alonzo returned a punt 74 yards for the other Whitmer touchdown.

Webb gained 155 yards; Sterritt 94 yards, and the Panthers had 38 carries for 299 yards.

Columbian scored on a 6-yard pass from Ryan Tittle to Jessie Herd.

Fremont Ross 17, Start 0

Fremont Ross jumped on top with nine points in the opening quarter.

Trent Stout scored on a seven-yard run for the visiting Little Giants, who added a safety when the Start punter was tackled in the end zone.

Greg Brown completed the scoring with a five-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Mansfield 58, Woodward 8

MANSFIELD, Ohio - The Tygers scored 35 points in the opening quarter and rolled to the win.

Terrance Deener ran for two touchdowns and threw for a third as Mansfield finished with 365 yards of total offense, including 221 rushing yards.

Terrell Dorsey led the way with 76 yards and one score on 13 carries, while Deener ran for 55 yards while completing 4-of-9 passes for 144 yards.

The Polar Bears' lone score came on 73-yard run by Franklin Levy. Woodward finished with just 72 yards of total offense, with 55 coming on the ground.
