2 people hurt in crash in South Toledo

Two people were hurt yesterday, including a woman who was trapped inside her car after it struck another vehicle in South Toledo, authorities said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified by police, was flown to Toledo Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Lucas County EMS dispatchers said.

Another person, whose name was not released, was transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, with minor injuries, dispatchers said.

Peter Hustwayte of Toledo was traveling west on Airport Highway approaching Pinebrook Parkway about 1 p.m. when the female driver attempted to turn onto Airport from Pinebrook, Toledo Police Lt. Frank Ramirez said.

The car struck the driver's side of Mr. Hustwayte's auto, splitting her vehicle into two pieces, Lieutenant Ramirez said.The collision remains under investigation, he said
