SLL roundup: Genoa holds off late drive by Oak Harbor
9/4/2010GENOA - Despite being outgained 166-148 in total yardage, Genoa (2-0) managed to push its regular-season winning streak to 31 games thanks to a key defensive stop with 27 seconds left in a 15-7 victory last night over Oak Harbor.

Preisman had picked off a halfback pass and the Rockets drove all the way to the Genoa six-yard line.
Genoa rushed for 155 yards, led by Kyle Nutter's 73 yards on 24 carries.
Oak Harbor's Kyle Mincheff opened the scoring with a three-yard run.
Seth Dufendock scored on a 13-yard run and the Comets took the lead with a two-point conversion. Josh Bryer added a one-yard TD run for Genoa.
Wiedand replaced starter Steve Young (7 of 15 for 115 yards passing) was hurt on the final series.
Port Clinton 35, Gibsonburg 6
GIBSONBURG - The Redskins were up by just eight at the half, but scored three unanswered touchdowns in the third period.
Steve Wingo caught a 14-yard TD pass from Derek Coltson. Wingo also scored on a 30-yard interception return.
Diante Laurel tallied on a 28-yard run and Stephen Pastor scored on a six-yard run.
Jacob Flemming returned an interception 22 yards for a TD.
Both teams had nearly 300 yards of offense, but Gibsonburg hurt its chances by turning the ball over six times.
Brett Diekman passed for 165 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Bears, hitting Vince Kirsch with a 55-yard scoring strike.
Elmwood 29, Lakota 12
ELMWOOD-Senior quarterback Jack Waldock rushed 20 times for 164 yards and two touchdowns for the Royals (1-1).
Waldock threw a six-yard TD pass to Jay Hannah.
Nate Wacek contributed 64 yards rushing and one touchdown for the Royals. Mica Robinson accounted for a first-quarter safety for Elmwood.
Lakota quarterback Chris Robbins ran for 151 yards and one score. Jason Moore added a TD for the Raiders (0-2).
Woodmore 43, Cardinal Stritch 24
ELMORE -The Wildcats built a 36-0 halftime lead and cruised.
Woodmore quarterback Jon Sandwisch completed eight of his 13 throws, and three of them were for touchdowns. Sandwisch hit Cody Lockhart for a 24-yard score, and connected with Grant Weirich for touchdowns of 73 and 11 yards. Pierce Fonseca had 180 yards rushing on 27 carries to lead the Woodmore ground attack.
The Wildcats rolled up more than 400 yards of offense, and held Cardinal Stritch to just 110 total yards.
Mike Blazevich ran for a score and had a touchdown pass for Stritch, while Nick Fuller had a
90-yard scoring run for the Cardinals.
