City League: Panthers ground out win over Eagles

The Panthers rolled up 302 rushing yards in a shutout of Clay (3-4, 1-2 City).

Tre Sterritt led Whitmer's rushing attack, piling up 103 yards on the ground and two scores, a 30-yard run and a three-yard score.

Quarterback Alex Palicki accounted for three touchdowns for the Panthers (6-1, 4-0), throwing an eight-yard scoring strike to Alonzo Lucas and a 67-yard bomb to Jody Webb in addition to rushing for an 18-yard score.

Jared Kenczewicz added a 20-yard field goal for Whitmer.

Dijon Tucker rolled up 150 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Bowsher (3-4, 3-1). Quarterback Drew Grigsby was 3 for 4 passing for 100 yards and the game's first two touchdowns.

Taylor Richardson (25 yards) and Allen Cook (55 yards) were the recipients of the game's first scores.

The Rebels did all of the game's scoring in the first half. Bowsher had 350 total yards to 98 for the Polar Bears (0-7, 0-3).

At Ecorse, Mich., the Titans overmatched the home team, piling up 388 yards in the first half.

Brogan Roback threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns, connecting on TD passes of 25 and 40 yards to Cheatham Norrils, who finished the game with 89 yards receiving. He also threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Zach Steinmetz.

Kent Kern rushed for 74 yards and two scores (five-yards, 15 yards ) for St. John's (6-1), while teammate Nate White rushed for 65 yards and another two touchdowns (35 yards, 2 yards).

Kyle Dinkins had an 11-yard touchdown run for Ecorse (5-2).

At Start, the Spartans broke out to a 14-0 first-quarter advantage to claim the victory, their first of the season.

Chris Bates got Start on the board first with a 32-yard scamper, and Alfonzo Howell followed with a five-yard run.

Josh Winzeler threw a 22-yard scoring pass to Chris Jones to complete the Start scoring in the third quarter. Dominique Chamblee recorded the only Bulldog score on a two-yard run.

Start goes to 1-6 overall, 1-3 in the City League. Scott drops to 0-7 and 0-4.
