NWOAL: Morton leads Archbold past Delta

ARCHBOLD — Garrett Morton rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns and connected with Hayden Stamm for another score to lead the Blue Streaks (7-0, 5-0 NWOAL) over Delta Friday night.

Morton also completed 13 of 21 pass attempts for 169 yards.

Eric Puehler led Delta (2-5, 0-5) with 75 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Drew Salsbury completed 7 of 14 pass attempts and rushed for a touchdown. Jeremy Schmitz drilled a 29-yard field goal for the Panthers.

METAMORA — Evergreen kept its playoff hopes alive with a convincing win over the visiting Bulldogs.

The Vikings (5-2, 3-2 NWOAL) scored a touchdown in each quarter, starting with an 11-yard run from Lucas Pennington. Pennington then connected with Clayton Wielinski for a 14-yard scoring strike for a 14-0 lead at the half.

Chad Monaghan added a pair of touchdown runs in the second half (49, 2) to put the game away. He carried the ball nine times for a team-high 100 yards. Wielinski added five carries for 50 yards. Defensively, the Vikings limited Swanton (0-7, 0-6) to 131 yards.

BRYAN — The Golden Bears were able to pull out for an early lead against Patrick Henry thanks to a pair of rushing touchdown from Jake Phillips, but the Patriots took over, scoring 36 unanswered points to win.

Kasey Spence led the Patrick Henry (7-0, 6-0) passing attack, throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Gabe Jones added 61 yards on the ground with a score while Alex Wilhelm had 95 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Phillips finished with 106 yards rushing for for Bryan (3-4, 3-2).
