SLL: Late TD run sinks Otsego

LIBERTY CENTER — Bryan Hefflinger ran for a 32-yard touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the game, and Kaleb Pohlman drilled the extra point to lift the Tigers over the Knights.

Jonah Harter kicked a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter to put Otsego ahead 3-0 and added a 40-yard kick to extend the Tigers' lead to 6-0.

MILLBURY — Pernell Conner rushed for 143 yards on 31 attempts and scored three touchdowns to lead Eastwood past Lake.

Quarterback Matt Klink was 5-for-5 in the air for 91 yards and hooked up with Zach Conkle for scores of 28 and 19 yards.

The Eagles (4-3, 3-1 SLL) rushed for 310 yards on 56 attempts, including a 21-yard touchdown run by Marquise Pitts.

The Flyers (5-2, 3-1) mustered only 133 yards of total offense, but Carl Brown prevented a shutout with a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

BLOOMDALE — Jack Waldock rushed 19 times for 226 yards and was 5-for-12 passing for 109 yards and the game's first touchdown of 35 yards to Jack Hannah to lead the Royals. Nate Wacek gained 139 yards in 20 carries and scored three touchdowns for Elmwood (4-3, 2-1). Elmwood had 497 total yards — 388 rushing and 109 passing.

Pierce Fonseca gained 85 yards on 22 carries and scored all three touchdowns for Woodmore (2-5, 0-4). Woodmore had 242 yards.

GIBSONBURG — Undefeated Genoa ran its season record to 7-0 and 3-0 in the league by rolling up 35 points in the first quarter and never looking back. Kyle Nutter opened the scoring with a one-yard run, then added another TD on a 33-yard run after Logan Scott scored on a 15-yard pass from Josh Bryer. Chris Cuevas scored on an eight-yard run, and Tyler Pickard had the first of his two pass interception returns for TDs to cap the Comets' first quarter splurge.

Pickard had a 40-yard interception return for the touchdown that opened the second quarter scoring. Pickard also added four field goals of 24, 47, 33, and 20 yards.

Justin Swartz scored on a three-yard run and Jordan Eddings on a 24-yard pass from Jordan Jonah for Gibsonburg (0-7, 0-3).
