NLL: Cougars assured of fourth straight title

Southview 28, Bowling Green 0

Southview clinched at least a share of the Northern Lakes League title for the fourth straight year with a win Friday night.

David Vandercook opened the scoring for the Cougars (9-0, 6-0 NLL) the first quarter with a three-yard run. De'Nard Pinckney came through with five-yard TD runs in both the second and third quarters.

J.Q. Bowers scored a fourth-quarter TD on a seven-yard run and Brad Kurtz completed the Cougar scoring with a 32-yard field goal.

Bowers rushed 14 times for 102 yards and Pinckney had 82 yards in 19 carries.

Southview had 237 yards rushing and just 28 passing.

Bowling Green (2-7, 1-5) had 51 yards on the ground and none passing. Southview's forced three fumbles and one interception.

Perrysburg 34, Northview 14

Perrysburg scored all of its points in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets (7-2, 4-2 NLL) had 354 total yards (161 passing and 193 rushing) to 133 for Northview (1-5, 3-6) on 79 passing and 54 rushing.

Micah Carter scored first for Perrysburg on a five-yard run. Jerrad Mantos followed with a 25-yard interception return. In the second quarter, Alex Gaston scored on a four-yard run, Tyler Gordon on a four-yard run, and Steve Slocum on an 11-yard pass from Matt Slocum.

Gaston had 16 carries for 85 yards, Matt Slocum was 14 of 19 passing for 144 yards.

Brandyn Hall passed 33 yards to Jake Martinez a Northview touchdown in the fourth quarter and Zach Ryder returned a pass interception 52 yards for the final score.

Anthony Wayne 42, Rossford 7

Matt Green scored four touchdowns as Anthony Wayne (6-3, 4-2) buried Rossford (0-9, 0-6).

Green had 10 carries for 152 yards, scoring on runs of 11, 4, 49 and 47 yards.

Alex Bridges and Zach Gronowski each had one touchdown. Bridges had 17 carries for 144 yards, and Gronowski gained 138 yards on eight carries. The Generals piled up 463 yards rushing.

Rossford's D.J. Recknagel, who had 159 yards passing, threw a 90-yard TD pass to Andrew McFarland.
