NWOAL: Blue Streaks clinch share of title

Archbold 21, Wauseon 7

ARCHBOLD — The undefeated Blue Streaks overcame an early touchdown by the Indians to clinch at least a share of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League title for the first time in 19 years Friday night.

The Indians (4-5, 3-4 NWOAL) scored on Troy Lind's three-yard run in the first quarter.

But Garrett Morton broke through for an eight-yard TD run in the second to even the score for Archbold (9-0, 7-0).

In the third quarter, Morton tossed a six-yard pass to Tyson Dietrich, and in the fourth he hit Desmond Sleigh on a 17-yard scoring strike.

Morton completed 13-of-19 pass attempts for 183 yards. Dietrich had 93 receiving yards on five grabs.

Jesse Finney led the Indians with 103 yards on 26 rushes.

Archbold can win the title outright with a victory next week at Liberty Center.

Evergreen 55, Montpelier 6

METAMORA — All but four of Evergreen's offensive plays was a run, and the Vikings finished with 540 total yards and seven touchdowns.

Chad Monaghan totaled 224 yards on 12 carries, scoring once on a 59-yard run. Derek Truckor (eight carries, 92 yards) and Lucas Pennington (eight carries, 90 yards). Dan Hilton scored two TDs.

The Vikings (7-2, 5-2) got a 25-yard touchdown pass from Pennington to T.J. Thieken.

Montpelier (1-8, 1-6) got a one-yard TD run by Keegan Hartsock.

Delta 23, Liberty Center 12

DELTA — Eric Puehler rushed for two second-half touchdown as Delta scored 16-unanswered points following a third-quarter score by Liberty Center.

Puehler finished the game with 239 yards on 23 carries. His touchdown runs of 44 and 52 yards, turned a 12-7 deficit into a 20-12 lead. Jeremy Schmitz made a 25-yard field goal to cap Delta's scoring.

The Panthers (4-5, 2-5) totaled 370 yards to Liberty Center's 187.

For the Tigers (4-5, 3-4), Justin Joeseph rushed for 90 yards on 15 carries, while Zach Niner and Shawn Westhoven scored touchdowns.
