Toledo's annual Holiday Parade will feature Disney actress and Toledo native

Alyson Stoner as the grand marshal.

The 17-year-old actress will be featured Nov. 27 in the 23rd consecutive parade

on Thanksgiving weekend along with festive, multistoried helium balloons, floats, bands playing holiday music, Shriners, the Distinguished Clown Corps, and of course, Santa.

A former Maumee Valley Country Day School student, Stoner was discovered at a modeling and talent convention in New York.

At age 7 she danced in a music video for hip-hop star Missy Elliott, and since then she's shared the screen with the likes of Eminem, Steve Martin, and the Jonas Brothers.

She was in the film "Step Up 3D" this summer and was the voice of Isabella in Disney's animated series "Phineas and Ferb." She is perhaps best known as a star on Disney Channel's "Camp Rock" movie and recently released two new songs, “Flying Forward” and “Make History.”

She will perform live at the Erie Street Market as part of the family-themed Kris Kringle Village. The village offers a selection of activities such as magic shows, demonstrations by the Imagination Station, photo opportunities with Santa, and 35 gingerbread houses, including a 6-foot tall house constructed by culinary students at Penta Career Center.

The parade steps off at Summit and Jefferson Streets at 10 a.m., traveling north on Summit to Jackson and finishing on Huron.

Kris Kringle Village is open from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Erie Street Market. Admission is $6, and anyone younger than 1 gets in free.

Anyone who wants to sponsor bands or units in the parade or participate in it or Kris Kringle Village can call Mark Peddicord at The Blade, 419-724-6394.
