Trial to start Tuesday in April 4 murder

The jury trial for a Toledo man charged in the death of one man and the shooting of another is to begin Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Ray A. Gott, 47, of 30 West Weber St. is charged with one count each of murder and felonious assault, each with gun specifications. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Gott is accused of killing Edward Lee, 35, and injuring Sherlon McKenzie, then 30, who was shot in the leg. The incident occurred April 4 during a quarrel in the parking lot of the Moody Manor apartments in the central city.

A jury was selected Monday. Attorney opening statements and witness testimony are scheduled for Tuesday with Judge Stacy Cook presiding over the trial.
