Boys' Districts

Toledo Christian, Maumee Valley move on

The Division IV boys district championship bout at Lakota High School on Friday night will feature an all Toledo Area Athletic Conference card. Heavyweights Maumee Valley and Toledo Christian both represented the TAAC in fine fashion, advancing with wins in the district semifinals on Tuesday night. The Hawks jumped all over Tiffin Calvert and never trailed en route to a 58-51 win. It took overtime for Toledo Christian to knock off New Riegel 57-52 in the opener. Girls' Regionals

Notre Dame too quick for Perrysburg

The upset-minded Perrysburg Yellow Jackets managed to maintain a slow tempo in Tuesday night's Division I girls basketball regional semifinal against Notre Dame. The Eagles quickened it up just enough to gradually add to their lead throughout, and marched off with a 44-28 victory at Central Catholic's Sullivan Center. The quickest of the Eagles, University of Toledo-bound point guard Cat Wells, did much of the damage in her team's shaking loose from Perrysburg's deliberate style. She caused many of the Jackets' 14 turnovers and cashed in at the other end in transition often enough to lead all scorers with 16 points. Rogers falls late against Lima Bath

Lima Bath was slowly wilting under Rogers' full-court pressure. Just when it looked like Rogers would take charge, Bath's 6-foot-1 Kaitlin Singhaus came up with a big offensive rebound. Singhaus' putback off a missed free throw helped lift Lima Bath to a 63-59 victory over Rogers in a Division II girls basketball regional semifinal Tuesday at Ohio Northern University.
