Marshall students suspended after fight

Two fourth-grade students at Marshall Elementary School have been disciplined after a fist fight in their classroom on Wednesday, school officials said.

Toledo Public Schools Spokesman Patty Mazur said today that both boys have been suspended but did not know the duration of the punishment.

A Toledo police report states the two boys, both 11 and in the same class, were working together on a project when they started to argue. The two pushed each other and then started throwing punches, according to the report.

The report states one of the boys punched the other, causing the boy to fall and hit his head on a desk.

The boy, who was bleeding, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where he was treated and released, Ms. Mazur said.

The report also states that Wednesday was the victim’s first day at Marshall; Ms. Mazur did not know the circumstances of his transfer to the school.
