Two people were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with "minor injuries" this morning after a rollover crash that closed the northbound lanes of I-75 for about three hours.

The truck driver, Alfred Respondek, of Eastpointe, Mich., was treated and released from the hospital. The condition of the female passenger, whose name was not released, was not immediately available.

Police said the commercial truck, which was carrying three large rolls of steel, lost control near the downtown exit and struck an inside barrier before rolling onto its left side, completely blocking two lanes.

The interstate was open again at about 7:40 a.m. after the vehicle was towed and the steel cleared from the roadway.

The northbound tractor-trailer rig struck a wall on I-75 on the approach to downtown Toledo near the exit to Collingwood Boulevard early today and rolled on its side, shutting down the highway.
