Rossford and Springfield combined for nearly 900 total yards and just over 80 points in an old-fashioned football shootout on Friday night. Rossford halfback Ian Stolar proved to be the difference, rushing for 207 yards on 17 carries, catching three passes for 133 yards, and scoring three touchdowns to lead the way to a 45-36 win at Springfield. Stolar scored on runs of 75 yards and 53 yards, the latter coming late in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. He also scored on an 83-yard screen pass from Ryan Clay in a contest that was delayed after halftime an hour by two 30-minute lightning delays. Clay passed for 166 yards and rushed for 97 yards, including a 75-yard TD run in the fourth. READ MORE

Irish roll past Yellow Jackets

Perrysburg struck first in its home football opener Friday night at Steinecker Stadium, but it was all Central Catholic after that in a 35-7 Fighting Irish nonleague victory. Senior running back Amir Edwards carried 23 times for 167 yards, including touchdown runs of 41, 12, 4, and 14 yards as Central moved to 3-0 entering Three Rivers Athletic Conference play next week. The Yellow Jackets, who were outgained 344-130 in total offense, dropped to 2-1 entering their Northern Lakes League opener at Springfield on Friday. BG rolls past Bowsher 28-6

Lightning filled the sky as the Bowling Green football team surrounded its victory bell and rang it in celebration of a home win Friday night despite the stadium being completely empty. The delayed festivities came 15 minutes after officials had suspended the game and then ruled that the Bobcats' 28-6 victory over Bowsher was official. Bowling Green (2-1) forced four fumbles and rolled in the second half behind senior quarterback Andrew Dennis, who accounted for all four touchdowns. READ MORE
