Anthony Wayne boys down Maumee 64-54

Anthony Wayne senior Mark Donnal dominated in all facets of the Generals' 64-54 win over visiting Maumee tonight in a Northern Lakes League boys basketball game.

Donnal finished with a double-double to help Anthony Wayne stayed on top in the NLL at 6-1.

Donnal, a 6-foot-10 center, scored 34 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Donnal also hit two three pointers and had three thunderous dunks.

Donnal, who will play next season at the University of Michigan, scored his 30th point of the night on a dunk off of a lob pass to give the Generals a 56-34 lead in the waning moments of the third quarter.

Junior Matt Fox chipped in with 14 points, including four 3 pointers. Anthony Wayne (10-2 overall), the preseason pick to win the NLL, led 34-21 at the half.

Maumee (10-3, 4-3), which was picked to finish second to last in the NLL, outscored the Generals 18-8 in the fourth quarter to keep it close.

Maumee senior guard Dominic King poured in 23 points, including four 3 pointers. Sean McGovern and Jason Wannamaker each had 10 points for the Panthers.
